Wish Week

Through the Colorado State Service Project for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, our school "adopted" the wish of a little boy named Garett. Garett was fighting a a rare form of leukemia and wanted to go to an exotic racing school. We organized a week long fundraising campaign for Garett with two nights we have home basketball games where we do our "Miracle Minute" by going into the crowd and collecting money between quarters and at half time. Therapy Dogs

The purpose of this event is help students get stress relief for midterms. Midterms are a very stressful time for high school students and our student council wanted to come up with a way to bring an uplifting atmosphere to our school. The week before midterms we had therapy dogs come to our school during lunch periods and after school. Students were very excited. Many students came and were happy to see the dogs. Phoenix Matters

In its first year, the NJHS chapter at Imagine Cortez Park decided to make sure that each of its members and the community was shown that it mattered. Our Phoenix Matters project had the ICP NJHS chapter painting graffiti in the neighborhood, cleaning up trash covering a one mile radius of the school, collecting food for thanksgiving dinners for our community and donating time and money to non-profit organizations that feed homeless. Operation Gratitude. Using guidance from the national Operation Gratitude website, NHS members from Epic Charter School in Oklahoma City, OK, took a day to write nearly 60 letters to military personnel serving overseas.

Community Welcome Buckets. The chapter at Milton Area High School, in Milton, PA, helped welcome new residents to their community by distributing buckets with welcome gifts. The project aimed to ensure support for schools from the whole community. They were also featured in the local paper!
