A Once in a Laughtime Opportunity / Compliment Day

This year, officers of ASMHS were given the opportunity to create an awareness day to empower them to make a difference and share a message. One of our officers chose ‘Compliment Day’. On National Compliment Day (Jan. 29), nationally-renown speaker Kevin Wanzer was invited to speak to our school. Building Beautification

The Lancaster High School Student Union sponsored the beautification of the Lancaster High School Junior Hall. The Co-Chairpersons brought two different designs to the 1st meeting with the beautification committee on December 2nd 2013. The designs were not approved at first so full scale mock-ups were made to show the administrators exactly what the ideas were. Chalk4Peace

Chalk for Peace was an event that enabled students to promote peace by expressing their feelings inside a giant peace sign, that was located in the court yard. The peace sign was visible to all the students in our school. Students paid 3 dollars for the event and were provided chalk, music, food, and drinks. We had food donated from local restaurants like, Panera Bread, Starbucks, and Publix. The funds raised will be used to send students to leadership conferences. Read More »

Operation Gratitude. Using guidance from the national Operation Gratitude website, NHS members from Epic Charter School in Oklahoma City, OK, took a day to write nearly 60 letters to military personnel serving overseas.

Community Welcome Buckets. The chapter at Milton Area High School, in Milton, PA, helped welcome new residents to their community by distributing buckets with welcome gifts. The project aimed to ensure support for schools from the whole community. They were also featured in the local paper!

Friends of Tree Planting. Chapter members from Benson High School in Portland, OR, joined with a local community group to plant trees and beautify their community.
