Be the Change Week

Every year, Student Council puts on Be the Change Week, which is a week where we highlight the values of unity and acceptance,espeically by focusing on kids who are usually left out and our disabled students. Heart Attack

The students wanted to show their appreciation for their teachers, so for Valentine's Day the Student Council cut out a thousands hearts out of construction paper. At lunch they had any student who wanted to fill out a heart for any teacher or staff member on campus for two days. They then sorted the hearts and made sure that every teacher and staff member had at least one heart filled out. Food Drive

Support of our local food pantry is a constant service our Student Council undertakes. In November, the Student Council ran its annual Thanksgiving Food Drive for the 14 consecutive year. Food was collected in November for families in need with an emphasis on providing a Thanksgiving meal for them, complete with the turkey, stuffing and all the trimmings. Operation Gratitude. Using guidance from the national Operation Gratitude website, NHS members from Epic Charter School in Oklahoma City, OK, took a day to write nearly 60 letters to military personnel serving overseas.

Community Welcome Buckets. The chapter at Milton Area High School, in Milton, PA, helped welcome new residents to their community by distributing buckets with welcome gifts. The project aimed to ensure support for schools from the whole community. They were also featured in the local paper!

Friends of Tree Planting. Chapter members from Benson High School in Portland, OR, joined with a local community group to plant trees and beautify their community.
