HOPE

HOPE is Ridge View’s annual spring project that is geared towards helping other countries in need. HOPE is an acronym for Helping Obtain Peace Everywhere. Each year, we pick a different country to raise money for. Last year, we chose the country of Malawi, located in Africa. Hike for a Cure

At QSI International School of Shenzhen we are raising cancer awareness.  One of our wonderful teachers was diagnosed with breast cancer in December.  She is currently fighting the battle.  As a chapter of the National Junior Honor Society we wanted to do something to make a difference and at the same time support this brave teacher, role model and friend.  We began a fundraising campaign, taking pledges for students that would hike up a mountain in our "Hike for a Cure"… Read More »

Ryan's Playbooks

While researching service opportunities, we came across Ryan's Playbooks, sponsored by DoSomething.org. We printed out templates and spent an afternoon with 60 students making activity books for school-aged children in hospitals. We made math puzzles, crossword puzzles, word-searches, coloring pages, artistic challenges, and word scrambles for over 200 patients. We delivered these books to St.Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. We have a second delivery, yet to be made.  Read More »

Operation Gratitude. Using guidance from the national Operation Gratitude website, NHS members from Epic Charter School in Oklahoma City, OK, took a day to write nearly 60 letters to military personnel serving overseas.

Community Welcome Buckets. The chapter at Milton Area High School, in Milton, PA, helped welcome new residents to their community by distributing buckets with welcome gifts. The project aimed to ensure support for schools from the whole community. They were also featured in the local paper!

Friends of Tree Planting. Chapter members from Benson High School in Portland, OR, joined with a local community group to plant trees and beautify their community.

Pen Pals to the Rescue. Read about Brookfield Central High School’s pen pal program featuring NHS members in Brookfield, WI, who linked up with English language learners at local elementary schools.
