Create an Account With the National Junior Honor Society

Student members of NJHS are encouraged to create their very own student account with a parent or guardian. Upon doing so, they will be able to have their member status verified by their adviser and receive the most up-to-date information about our programs and activities delivered straight to their inbox. Learn about the process below and create your NJHS student account today.

What Do I Need to Do?

Students and Parents/Guardians

If a student is under age 13:

  • Enter your email address and date of birth.
  • Parent consent is required to create an account on the NJHS website. This consent is provided via a COPPA Parental Consent Form. This form needs to be submitted to NASSP in order for the student account to be created.
  • Allow one to two business days for processing after receipt of the form.
  • Parents, students and advisers will receive an email confirming receipt of the form and the creation of the student’s NJHS account. Students will also be given a password that will be used to log in to their account. Their username will be their email address.

If a student is age 13 or older:

  • Students can create an account without submitting the COPPA form.
  • Fill in the following information and complete the remaining steps:
    1. Your name.
    2. Your email address—this will be your account username.
    3. Your school affiliation number, state, and country.
      • TIP: Due to the variation in the way a school’s name may be listed in our database, it is best to leave the school name field blank. Ask your adviser for the school’s NJHS chapter affiliation number to confirm you have the correct school. Do not select your school district as an option.
    4. You must select “School” as the address type. Do not select “Home.”
    5. Select “NJHS Student” as your school role. If you select any other option, your account will not be connected to your school’s account and your adviser will not be able to verify you.
    6. Accept the Terms and Conditions and create a password (six or more characters). Remember your password.

Once you create an account, your adviser will need to log in and verify that you are a member of the chapter.

Until then, your account will be inactive, and you will not have access to some of the member functions such as the NJHS Outstanding Achievement Award.

Advisers

You’ll receive a daily notification email at 10:00 p.m. (ET) from NASSP containing a list of students awaiting verification. However, you can log in to your account at any time to view your chapter roster and students awaiting verification.

You must log in to your account and verify each active student so that they can access some of the online member functions such as the NJHS Outstanding Achievement Award.

To verify a student account:

  • Log in and click “My Account” at the top of the page. Click on the tab in the middle of the page with your school name on it, and then click the “Students” tab to access your roster. Check the verification box next to the student’s name and then click “Verify Selected” to save your work. Here’s a quick video explaining the process!

FAQ

Is creating an account a requirement?

No, creating an account is not a membership requirement for you or students, but rather a way for us to share updates about our student programs and services directly to their inboxes, similar to what you also receive.

Does NASSP share student information?

NASSP does not share student information with third parties.

Can a parent or guardian create an account?

While it is possible for a parent or guardian to create an account on behalf of a student, we encourage students to create accounts for themselves to receive program updates directly. NASSP does not offer parent or guardian accounts.

How do advisers verify student accounts?

To verify a student account: log in and click “My Account” at the top of the page. Click on the tab in the middle of the page with your school name on it, and then the “Students” tab to access your roster. Check the verification box next to the student’s name and then, “Verify Selected” to save your work. Here’s a quick video explaining the process!

What is digital badging?

Digital badges are web-enabled versions of a credential, certification, or learning outcome which can be verified in real time, online. Check out http://www.njhs.us/badge for more information!

Is there a deadline to verify students?

We ask that all member accounts are verified by Friday, July 31, 2020.

Can NJHS alumni create accounts?

Yes, alumni can create accounts here to receive program updates. Please note that we are unable to retroactively verify alumni accounts, so we cannot award digital badges.

Do NJHS alumni who are inducted into an NHS chapter need to create a new account?

Yes, NJHS alumni moving to an NHS chapter will need to create a new student account. Students cannot link their existing account to a new school online.

Will advisers see alumni students in the online roster?
